JRS Malta has attended the fresher’s week of MCAST, the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology, held at their campus in Paola and Mosta.
Staff members Ceci and Barbara coordinated the JRS stand and informed students on the various projects in which our organization is involved. Among others, our team informed students about one of our most recent collaborations in an international project called FAB! Together.
Fab! is a cross-country project on unaccompanied minors and children in migration, between five NGOs from Italy, Spain, Greece, Cyprus and Malta. All of these NGOs work directly with asylum seekers and unaccompanied minors. The idea is to promote alternative family-based care for unaccompanied minors and all the NGOs involved have so far worked on content, events and debates to discuss this issue.
While at the MCAST campus, members of JRS informed the students about the issues that unaccompanied minors face when they arrive in Malta, the challenges they face and proposals for the way forward.
They also informed students on what JRS does as an organization, how does it work with asylum seekers in Malta and what its guiding mission statement is; to accompany, serve and defend those seeking asylum in Malta.
