Psychosocial support
The JRS psychosocial team was set up in 2003 to provide support to vulnerable asylum seekers in detention. Presently, JRS offers psychosocial support to asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection, both in detention and in the community. The main aim of this service is to make sure vulnerable asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection are well looked after. The service includes:
- Social work assistance: including information provision and support with accessing mainstream services. We also provide assistance with finding accommodation, material subsistence and accessing.
- Psychological assistance: including brief intervention, awareness-raising groups, individual psychological support and counselling.
- Health care: supporting vulnerable asylum seekers and beneficiaries of protection with accessing the healthcare system, providing language support and accompaniment for appointments, and assistance with medication and medical intervention.
- Employment assistance: including information provision on rights and obligations related to work, applying for a work permit, and searching for vacancies.
